ensuring quality care for medicare patients Issue 2

as of 2008 doctors who treat medicare patients will face cuts of 5 to 10% in their rembursment from the government. president Bush budgeted that there will be saving of $70 billion on medicare and medicaid over the next 5 years. as medicare is presently set up, doctors get paid based on their quantity of work not quality of work. they assert that doctors are expected to provide "quality care" at all time. they should not be paid extra for providing quality care.

i think that all doctors should have to provide quality care even if thy dont get paid extra because they dont need to be paid extra because it is their job to provide quality care to all of their patients.

Yemen bomb plot tip-off came from ex-Gitmo detainee, according to report

A repentant member of al-Qaida gave authorities the key tip-off which led to the discovery of the two mail bombs sent from Yemen to the U.S. Jaber al-Faifi had given himself up to Saudi Arabian authorities two weeks ago. Al-Faifi had rejoined al-Qaida in Yemen. after he had been released from Guantanamo and completed a rehabilitation program in Saudi Arabia. A U.S. official and a British security consultant said previously that the device, hidden in a printer cartridge, was so sophisticated that it nearly slipped past British investigators even after the tip-off was passed on by Saudi Arabian authorities.

i am glad that they found out about the bombs before people opened the bombs. i would have been sad for the families of the people that they were sending the bombs to. if they would not have found out about the bombs then they would have had at least 2 deaths to investigate.

Two-foot hole appears in plane at 31,000 feet

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused a two-foot hole to open up in the fuselage of an American Airlines jet during a flight. the flight was going from miami to boston. it gave the passengers a scare. The hole led to rapid decompression at 31,000 feet. oxygen masks were automatically deployed. the plane was carrying 154 passengers and 6 crew members. they descended and turned around and safely landed at miami international airport.

i am glad that the plane landed safely and that no one got hurt. i wonder how the two foot hole just appeared. i am a little bit sad that those passengers did not make it to boston. i am glad that the plane landed safely so the people could go see there families.

Witness: 13 slain at rehab center in border city

A client at a drug rehab center said that a gang of armed men burst into the building and gunned down 13 recovering addicts there. the rehab center is in the Mexican border city of Tijuana. police at the scene say that there are at least 10 dead recovering addicts. The witness, who asked to be identified only by his first name, Jesus, for fear of reprisals, said he was attending a movie showing on the first floor of the center, and had stepped out for something to eat when the attack occurred late Sunday.

i am sad that a gang broke into a drug rehab center to kill some recovering drug addicts. i feel bad for the peoples families if hey had a family because the kids or kids lost a parent.

For 2nd year in row, no Social Security increase

More than 58 million retirees and disabled Americans will get no increase in Social Security benefits next year, the second year in a row without a raise. Nancy Pelosi is trying to get the house to pass a proposal for $250 and if the house passes it then the senate will have to pass it before it will go into effect. if the proposal gets passed in both places then the social security recipients will get $250 each month. Many haven't had a raise since January 2009, and they won't be getting one until at least January 2012. The timing couldn't be worse for Democrats as they approach an election in which they are in danger of losing their House majority. They could possibly lose their Senate majority as well.

i will be glad if the proposal gets passed. i will not be happy if they dont raise how much they get next year. i wonder why they did not raise it this year or last year?

Jobless claims fall to lowest level in 3 months

the unemployed benefits unexpectedly dropped last week. it touched the lowest level in nearly three months. it points towards some stability in the troubled labor market. initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped  11,000. Non-farm payrolls were likely unchanged last month as more temporary census jobs ended. private hiring has picked up some.

i like that the unemployment rates have gone down some. i am glad that some private hiring has picked up. i like the sound of stability in the troubled labor market. i feel good that hopefully the unemployment rates will go down some more so the troubled labor market gets more stable

issue 1: war dollars

president bush built up a big national deficit so now we owe about8.8 trillion dollars to other countries. I think that our national debt needs to be paid off as soon as we can pay it off so the whole country is not in debt. my opinion is that we need to get the national debt paid off as soon as possible. if we don’t pay off a portion of it each year then it will just keep growing and my generation does not need to be that far in debt. I think that my generation does not have enough money to pay off that big of debt that our country has acquired. i would not be happy if it keeps going up so it is even more that my generation has to pay off so our country can get out of debt.

i dont like how our country keeps spending and borrowing more money that what our country has. i am mad that we have this high of a national debt that will take my generation many years to pay off. the next generation might have to help pay off our countries national debt. if our generation and the next generation cant pay it all off then the generation aftwer the next generation will have to help pay off our national debt.

Gunmen burn two more NATO supply trucks

gunmen attack two more trucks carrying NATO supplies to afghanistan. It is the fourth such attack since friday. they burned the trucks and killed one of the drivers. the taliban also threatened more attacks. the two gunmen were riding motorcycles and torched the trucks as soon as they stopped. the gunmen fled after the attack so we dont know who that attackers are.

i feel bad for the families of the truck drivers. i am sad that the attackers killed one of the drivers and that the attacker would d something like that. i dont get why peple do things like attacking trucks. why do people attack trucks that are carrying supplies to different places? i am mad that people would attack a supply truck even if the driver of the truck dont have a family and kill the drivers of the trucks.

huge california gas blast, fire kill at least 4

In California Thursday a natural gas line busted and destroyed at least 50 houses and killing at least 4 people. The investigators are still searching to find out why the gas line busted. the hospitals have taken in 52 people that are injured. I feel sad that some people have been killed and that some people are now homeless that were never homeless before. I am sad that it happened to those people. I am devastated at the damage the gas line did to that neighborhood. I would not know what to do if a gas line busted under my house like it did in California. I feel very sad for the people that are now homeless. I think some of their neighbors should help them until they have somewhere new to live.
